125 Flexible Spending Plan, Commuter Reimbursement Plan, and Health Savings Accounts

125 Flexible Spending Plan (FSA)

SRJC offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Section 125 Plan to all faculty, classified, and management/confidential employees. The Section 125 Plan allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses. The plan also includes a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account for eligible childcare and dependent care expenses.

This is a calendar-year plan that runs from January through December. Open enrollment takes place during October and November for coverage in the following calendar year.

Commuter Reimbursement Plan

SRJC offers a commuter benefits program to all faculty, classified, and management/confidential employees. The program allows employees to elect pre-tax payroll deductions for SMART train passes and other eligible commuter expenses.

Open enrollment for the program takes place during October and November for the following calendar year.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

SRJC also offers a Health Savings Account (HSA) for employees enrolled in Kaiser or Blue Shield high-deductible health plans. Employees enrolled in an HSA plan are only eligible to participate in the Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (IRC Section 125 plan).
